Workforce Recruitment
We’ve been supporting our GP surgeries with workforce recruitment since May 2023.
Our focus is to both increase recruitment and retention levels in general practice, as well as create a pool of candidates through our Flexible Pool, who can provide cover across the many roles in General Practice.
Areas of support we provide include creating standardised job descriptions, actively helping to promote and fill vacancies, helping with assessment of non-clinical candidates and generally finding ways to make recruitment of staff simpler for our GP surgeries.
One of our key focusses is creating a pipeline of non-clinical staff, working in close partnership with the Skills and Employment Service within London Borough of Hounslow. Together, we’ve organised regular assessment and recruitment fairs to identify Hounslow residents with the right skills and experience, who can be trained in local clinical systems, reducing the training time if appointed by a GP surgery.
“Since joining Hounslow, one of my priorities has been to make things simpler for our practices.”
It’s been valuable working with the local council to identify people living in Hounslow to develop into the non-clinical roles we have, such as administrators. By finding great candidates who are living in the local area, it means a short commute for them within the borough reducing the risk they will look further afield for a more convenient role. We also find people are passionate about being part of making their borough a great place to live, and the health system is a crucial part of that.

“Administration roles tend to have a high turnover, so finding and training people on things like SystmOne takes up a lot of time for me.”
It was so much easier being able to interview a candidate that I knew had the right skills, so we could focus on whether they were the right fit for our team.
