Hounslow Consortium is working to increase clinical research opportunities across Hounslow GP surgeries, working with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

In 2006, the Department of Health set up The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to improve the health and wealth of the nation through Research. The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) was introduced to provide the infrastructure to the NHS to allow high quality research to be set up and delivered efficiently and effectively.

By increasing the number of our GP surgeries involved in clinical research we are helping them to:

  • Evaluate current practice objectively
  • Learn new skills that creates better clinicians
  • Offer patients access to new treatments
  • Support GP Practice CQC status through involvement in clinical research
  • Access a financial incentive
